There are no new cases of the Omicron variant in today’s (Tues) COVID-19 update from the province, for a total of 5 to date in Saskatchewan. There are 47 new cases of the virus, which is an increase of 12 from Monday, and the province is reporting four new deaths for a total now of 941.
The number of people in the hospital with COVID remains at 110, including 34 patients in an ICU. The province reports there are no Saskatchewan residents receiving care in Ontario anymore. The final patient was returned home on Tuesday.
The number of tests for the virus increased by 400, to 1,397 in today’s report and there were 820 shots given, which is a decrease of 327.

- Just over one-quarter (25.5%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
- More than two-fifth (42.2%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
- As of December 14th, a total of 110 individuals are hospitalized, including 76 inpatient hospitalizations and 34 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 110 patients, 69 (62.7%) were not fully vaccinated.
- In addition to SK ICU counts, there is one resident receiving out of province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.
- Four (4) new deaths reported today. 941 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,301,497 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 12th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,100,305 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,311,192 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 54 (4.5 new cases per 100,000).
