A Tweet from Unifor Local 1S President Dave Kuntz says the Direct West bargaining committee went back to the table with the employer with cautious optimism this morning (Wed). It’s Day 6 of the Unifor strike for around 5-thousand members working at 7 Crown entities.
Elsewhere, a national Unifor post says SaskPower workers were blocking the SaskTel building near Regina’s airport today.
On Monday, the Union had said workers would go back on the job and work to rule, but later SaskTel said the workers would be locked out because it takes more notice to switch things around. Both SaskWater and the Water Security Agency went back on the job and the rest stayed out yesterday (Tues).
The government is offering a 5 per cent increase over 5 years, but Unifor clarifies that there would be no increase for the first 2 years, which it calls a wage freeze.
