SGI says there were 709 intersection violations during the November Traffic Spotlight.
Police in the province ticketed 270 drivers who disobeyed stop signs, 196 drivers who failed to obey a traffic light, 82 who made a U-turn at traffic-light controlled intersections. In addition there were 161 other intersection related Traffic Safety Act violations.
As well, police pulled over 312 impaired drivers, handed out 4,524 tickets for speeding or aggressive driving, 206 tickets for seatbelt restraint infractions and 593 tickets for distracted driving with 87 per cent of them being for using a mobile device while driving.
