The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is reporting the death of a 59 year old male inmate at the Regina Reintegration Unit.

The death occurred December 23rd. The Ministry says the inmate was found unresponsive in his room. EMS was called, life saving measures were initiated and the inmate was declared deceased at 10:20 p.m. The death is not related to COVID-19.

The Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service have been notified and are investigating. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation.
