The province reports 589 new cases of COVID-19 today (Thurs), and Saskatoon has 41 per cent of them with 242. Another four people who tested positive for the virus have died, for a total to date of 955.
The number of hospitalizations is now at 79, compared to 83 on Wednesday, and that includes 14 ICU hospitalizations. Of those 79 patients with COVID, almost 60 per cent were not fully vaccinated.
The number of confirmed cases of the Omicron variant has risen from 66 to 117, and the number of probable cases has increased from 890 on Wednesday to 1,055 on Thursday.

Two (2) SK residents who tested positive earlier (possibly in private lab) were added to the case counts in the Saskatoon (from December 28 (2)) zones
One (1) duplicate case was removed from Regina zone from December 28, 2021

More than one-half (52.3%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated
As of December 30th, a total of 79 individuals are hospitalized, including 65 inpatient hospitalizations and 14 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 79 patients, 47 (59.5%) were not fully vaccinated.
Four (4) new deaths today. 955 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
1,328,343 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 28, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,121,432 tests performed per million. The national rate of 1,370,286 tests performed per million population.
The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 257 (21.3 new cases per 100,000).
