The Prince Albert Police Service has released the identity of the 20 year old man who is the city’s first homicide victim of the year. Just before 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day, officers responded to a weapons call at a home in the 200 block of 13th Street East, and found Alex Whitehead suffering from life threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Victoria Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police don’t believe this was a random act.
On Monday, officers with the Criminal Investigation Division, Patrol, and Forensic Identification executed a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of 13th Street East as part of its ongoing investigation. An autopsy was completed today (Tuesday). No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
