Premier Scott Moe says his government won’t be mandating COVID-19 vaccinations. The premier issued a statement yesterday (fri) after Canada’s health minister Jean-Yves Duclos suggested that provinces should consider making vaccinations mandatory. Duclos added that our health care system is fragile and the only way to get through COVID is through vaccination. The federal health minister said that was his personal view, but it’s one that’s based off conversations with provincial health ministers. Premier Moe said quote “The Government of Saskatchewan will not be implementing mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations. While we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated to protect yourself and others from serious illness, in Saskatchewan this is a personal choice.” As of Friday, there have been more than 1.8 million COVID-19 vaccines administered in Saskatchewan.
