For a fourth straight day, Saskatchewan has set a single-day high for positive test percentage with COVID-19.
Monday’s dashboard reading showed 1,347 new cases of the novel coronavirus from 3,374 COVID-19 tests performed for a 39.9 per cent positive test rate. The latest update showed 1,187 recoveries, leaving 11,642 active cases of the virus in the province. For a 12th straight day, there were no new COVID-19-related fatalities, but Saskatchewan’s number of hospitalized individuals went up by five from Sunday to 167, including 13 infections being treated in an I-C-U, up one from Sunday. Eight of the I-C-U patients in the province are for COVID-19 related illnesses while the other five are for incidental, COVID infections.

- As of January 17th, there are 1,347 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 101,537 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (11), Far North East (16), North West (33), North Central (122), North East (51), Saskatoon (452), Central West (45), Central East (67), Regina (268), South West (33), South Central (37) and South East (51) zones and 161 new cases have pending residence information.
- 17 SK residents tested out of province were added to Saskatoon (from January 13 (2), January 14 (4), January 15 (1)), Central West (from January 14 (1), January 15 (1)), Regina (from January 13 (1), January 14 (4)), South West (from January 14 (1)), South East (from January 15 (1)) zones. One (1) case with pending residence information was added to case counts on January 14, 2022.

- Nearly two-fifths (38.4%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
- As of January 17th, a total of 167 individuals are hospitalized; including 154 inpatient hospitalizations, and 13 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 167 patients, 57 (34.1%) were not fully vaccinated.
- The SHA dashboard includes 167 hospitalizations: 154 residents are inpatient: of those, 67 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19 – related illness, 52 are incidental, COVID infections and 35 have not yet been determined. 13 residents are in ICUs: of those, eight (8) are for COVID-19 – related illnesses, five (5) are for incidental, COVID infections.
- No (0) new death reported today. 961 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 0.9%.
- 1,385,661 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of January 12, 2022, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,157,945 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,430,788 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 1,208 (100.3 new cases per 100,000.)
- Since January 1, the New Cases by Vaccination Status table has shown a significant number of new cases as unvaccinated. This data is not accurate. This table is no longer featured on the dashboard until a review of the information is complete and the data rectified.
