A Regina police officer has been relieved from duty for thirty days, and there will be an administrative investigation after criminal matters have been dealt with. That’s according to a news release from the Regina Police Service which states that a constable is facing six charges of driving while prohibited.

On August 19th of last year an Automated License Plate Reader signaled a suspended driver, when driving by a parked vehicle, which was later identified as 38 year old Scott Shane Ash’s personal vehicle. The Police Service investigated and confirmed that he had driven a police vehicle on at least six occasions between mid-July and August 26th. The Police Service says they were not aware his license was suspended due to unpaid fines.

The investigation also revealed that Ash was only permitted to drive with an ignition interlock device, related to a guilty plea to impaired driving from a charge in August of 2019. The matters have yet to be proven in court, with his first appearance in Regina on March 24th.
