More than 60 per cent of the City of Saskatoon’s rut shaving on residential streets is done, and it’s expected all neighbourhoods will be complete by Wednesday. Streets were skipped if parked vehicles made them too narrow for graders to pass.

Rut shaving for February 15 is scheduled for Dundonald, Exhibition, Queen Elizabeth, Westview, Wildwood and City Park  (Avenues and King Crescent are scheduled for Feb 17)

City and contractor crews will be rut shaving the skipped streets, and also will begin work in industrial areas and the severe ruts in back lanes. Skipped streets will be posted with No Parking signs for rut shaving as of today (Mon) and vehicles left on those streets on their scheduled day will be towed to a nearby street. The City expects they will be done by the end of the weekend.

There is snow in the forecast, so the City says when that happens, some operators will be reassigned to plowing and sanding on the priority streets.

Rut shaving in industrial neighbourhoods will start tonight and continue until completed. Grading in back lanes with severe ruts will begin this week. The lanes are narrow, and people should ensure their collection carts are pulled onto their property for the operator’s safety and to prevent damage from the large equipment.
