The wastewater COVID-19 viral load is down in both Saskatoon and North Battleford, but it is up significantly in Prince Albert. In the week of February 3rd to 9th, the viral load in Saskatoon’s wastewater is down almost 44 per cent. In North Battleford for the week beginning January 29th, the viral load decreased by about ten per cent, and in Prince Albert, for the week beginning February 1st, the COVID-19 viral load was up almost 74 per cent.
That’s according to the data from USask’s Global Institute for Water Security, which says on its website that the viral wastewater signal is a leading indicator of impending surges or decreases in the number of active cases in the next seven to ten days.
