Canada added four medals to its tally at the Beijing Olympics and one of those is the bronze medal in men’s curling. Brad Gushue defeated American John Shuster 8-5 in the third-place game.

Calgary’s Cassie Sharpe won silver in the women’s freeski halfpipe ahead of Rachael Karker from Erin, Ontario, who took bronze.

Speedskater Laurent Dubreuil of Levis, Quebec won silver in the men’s one-thousand metres.

Canada now has 24 medals at the Beijing Olympics: 4 gold, seven silver and 13 bronze.
