Kindersley RCMP are releasing more information about the incident which occurred last Friday, where officers responded to a potential armed and barricaded situation. It began as an armed robbery investigation.

Police responded to a business in Eatonia just before 11:30 last Thursday night, after a report of an armed robbery. Eatonia is about 42 kilometres southwest of Kindersley. Police say investigators were able to identify that the alleged suspect was at an apartment on Main Street in Kindersley.

At about 5:15 the next morning, officers from the Kindersley Detachment and Rosetown Traffic Services, with help from the Town of Kindersley, blocked the roads surrounding the apartment. Around 9:30 the 31 year old was found inside and police say cash and a handgun were seized. Joel Roland Reed, also known as Joel Woodburn, is facing numerous charges including robbery with a firearm for a criminal organization, disguise with intent to commit an offence, and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.

He was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. Reed appears in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday.
