A 33 year-old man has been charged with arson after a fire in a home in the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue on Saturday in Regina.
Regina Police say the call came in a few minutes before noon of a fire in the basement of a home and a physically challenged man trying, but unable, to get out.
Regina firefighters got everyone out safely and while no one was hurt the building suffered significant damage.
Witnesses told police the fire was set by a man who had fled southbound towards the stadium and they gave police a name. A suspect was arrested without incident in the surrounding area.
Troy Whitehawk of Regina is in court today charged with one count of Arson with Disregard for Human Life.
