Every month, SGI publishes a list of the number of tickets handed out during their traffic safety spotlights, and every month, thousands are for speeding.
That’s the March spotlight, and SGI’s Tyler McMurchy has a message for motorists.
“Just obey those speed limits and you don’t have to worry about being among those more than a hundred thousand people every year that get speeding ticket.”
He says weather conditions also factor in to how much people speed and reminds motorists posted speed limits are the maximum allowed in ideal weather conditions.
He says speeding on a regular stretch of road costs $190 but will increase if you are more than 20 kilometres an hour over the speed limit.
