Saskatchewan’s weekly COVID-19 update for the week of February 20th to the 26th shows there were 44 new virus-related deaths in the province. Twenty-four were those aged 80 and older with 8 in the 70 to 79 age bracket, 7 fatalities in those ages 60 to 69 and 5 deaths were reported in the 40 to 59 age group.

A total of 1,102 were confirmed cases of COVID from February 20th to the 26th.

There were eleven COVID-19 outbreaks declared in long-term care and other care home settings with two in the Saskatoon area.

During that week, 9,135 doses of vaccine were administered in the province with 85.5 per cent of the population now having at least one dose, which remains the same at the time of the last report.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 are down compared to the previous EPI report from the province. The latest report says there are 353 people receiving care in a Saskatchewan hospital for the virus as of Wednesday, including 30 in an ICU. That’s a drop of 19 from the 372 who were in hospital the previous week.
