Women-owned business are supporting women experiencing domestic violence, in recognition of International Women’s Day on Tuesday. The fundraiser called YXE Women’s Week supports the Saskatoon Interval House.

Executive Director Tanya Wiggins says Interval House is a temporary shelter which also provides crisis counselling to women and children who are in need of immediate safe shelter from domestic violence. She explains that these women-owned businesses have special promotions which run through Sunday, and a part of the proceeds will go to Interval House. It’s the second year for this initiative Wiggins has been encouraged by the response. She says, “The support we receive from our community each year is awe-inspiring. We are so pleased to see so many amazing female-led local organizations supporting us through YXE Women’s Week.”

Owner of Honey Bun Cafe, Joscelyn Armstrong, says, “As a local business that is 100% female-owned and operated, it has always been important to Honey Bun  Cafe to support and empower women. That is why YXE Women’s Week is so important to us. Recognition of the efforts of women, especially locally, is priceless.”
