Just after 8 this morning (Wed), the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a 911 call about lots of smoke coming from the fourth floor of an apartment building in the 100 block of Avenue O South. Fire crews say residents were self-evacuating when they arrived. Crews continued with the evacuation along with working on the fire. The blaze was found on the fourth floor stairwell.

A fire investigator determined the fire was deliberately set, so the Police Service was called in for further investigation. Fire damage is estimated at $10,000, and the investigation by police continues.
