A man found guilty on three counts of criminal negligence causing death from an accident in February of 2016 had his appeal in court heard last week, however, the date for a decision has not been set yet. In January of 2019, Robert Major was sentenced to seven years in prison, convicted on three counts of criminal negligence causing death and three counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

February 22nd of 2016, RCMP responded to an accident involving a semi and a truck. Two of Major’s sons, four year old Brendan and nine year old Theo, died in the crash, as did Major’s 26 year old girlfriend, Kimberly Oliverio. There were seven people in the truck, including Robert Major, who was driving.

The reasons given for the appeal included seizing Major’s data recorder evidence without warrant, permitting the data recorder evidence to be admitted and considered by the Jury without any limiting instructions, and inadmissible, prejudicial and hearsay evidence.
