The Saskatoon Fire Department is reporting another fire, the third one of the day. Just before 12:30 this afternoon (Tues) , multiple 911 calls came in about an apartment fire at 555 12th Street East, with the possibility of someone trapped on the roof. While traveling across the Broadway Bridge fire crews noted smoke and flames on the roof of the building and could see someone moving on the roof.
It was confirmed someone was doing maintenance work on the roof and needed help to a safer location, however the person wasn’t trapped as was originally reported. The maintenance worker was using a bucket of water to contain the fire. Emergency crews began their attack and assisted the worker to safety. It was confirmed everyone had evacuated, including pets.
Neither the cause nor the damage estimate is available at this time.
