An investigation is underway and there is an increased R-C-M-P presence on the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation following a fatal shooting late Sunday afternoon.

At about 5:50 p.m. on March 27th, Rosthern R-C-M-P received a report of a shooting and found an injured male on a road in the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation community. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 22-year-old man is from Saskatoon, his family has been notified, but his name is not being released by the R-C-M-P at this time. Saskatchewan R-C-M-P’s Major Crime Unit is investigating with no known threat to public safety. Anyone with information about the incident should call their nearest R-C-M-P detachment or Crime Stoppers.
