Two Balcarres men made their first appearance Tuesday in Regina Provincial Court after being arrested by the Regina Police Service and charged in a Monday evening report of a firearm offence in the city.

At about 10 p.m. Monday, a group of masked suspects were reported to have arrived at a residence on the 1400 block of Bond Street, armed with a firearm and attempted to rob a man outside the residence. The victim fled into the residence and locked the door while the suspects left in a vehicle. Police located the vehicle and performed a high risk traffic stop. Five occupants of the vehicle were arrested while a search of the vehicle revealed a firearm and a substance believed to be methamphetamine. One suspect was arrested on an unrelated warrant while 29-year-old Lynden Bellegarde was charged with possession of a scheduled substance as well as armed robbery using a restricted and/or prohibited firearm plus 39-year-old Brett Lorne Bellegarde was charged with possession of a firearm and/or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.
