Tristan Robins will wear the “C” due to a persistent injury to teammate Aidan De La Gorgendiere that will require season ending surgery.

“Aiden had been battling through an ailment for most of the season, and over the weekend, it finally reached a point where surgery was the only option for him,” said Colin Priestner, general manager of the Saskatoon Blades. “We will miss his leadership and it certainly is difficult news given how much he means to our team on and off the ice.”

De La Gorgendiere is expected to return to full health for the start of the 2022-23 season. The Langley, BC product leads the team in defensive scoring with 45 points (4 goal-41 assists) in 54 games.

Robins, a second round selection by the San Jose Sharks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, was named as one of three alternate captains at the start of the season. He is second in team scoring with 74 points (32 goals-42 assists) in 59 games.

Robins will play his first game as Blades captain on Wednesday evening against the Pats in Regina.
