Representatives from Saskatchewan’s cities, towns, villages are in Regina this week for the annual SUMA convention.

Interim President Randi Goulden says there will be plenty to discuss for the first in person face to face edition of the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association after a more than two year absence.

She suggests some of those topics will include infrastructure, public safety, issues around mental health and addictions as well as recovery from the COVID pandemic.  Another order of business this week is to elect a new president of SUMA.

The official opening ceremonies are this morning and will be followed by the address by Premier Scott Moe.

Tuesday has the address by NDP Opposition Leader Ryan Meili as well as the keynote address by former Edmonton mayor Don Iveson. He was also former chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Big City Mayors’ Caucus.

On Wednesday is the address by the SUMA president and the bear pit with provincial cabinet members.
