The Saskatchewan NDP says municipal leaders voiced concerns over the state of healthcare at the SUMA convention which began on Sunday. So, the Official Opposition called on the government to acknowledge the growing gaps during Monday’s sitting of the legislature, and to commit to fixing them with a long-term plan. Leader Ryan Meili says the provincial budget is short on sustained and serous investment that municipal leaders know first-hand are needed to address this problem.

The NDP says in a news release that communities continue to be impacted by service disruptions, making those in need travel further for emergency care. Critic for municipalities, Carla Beck says Kamsack, Canora, Herbert, Broadview, Bigger, Porcupine Plain, Preeceville, Wilkie, Lanigan and Esterhazy are dealing with closures right now.
