Downtown YXE has indicated that the Saskatoon Tribal Council is asking the City of Saskatoon for a one year extension on the lease and programming for the temporary Wellness Centre located at 145 1st Avenue North. It is on the agenda for the next Planning, Development and Community Services Committee.
The downtown business group advises any interested business owners to fill out a form on the city’s website in order to address the committee at the upcoming April 12th meeting.
Council amended the zoning bylaw for the six month operation of the facility which was to be leased until March 2022 and could be extended until the end of April if deemed necessary.
The facility was also initially approved for 50 beds and then expanded to 74 beds. Tribal Chief Mark Arcand is holding a news conference on Monday to proved statistics on the centre since it has been up and running, information about the lease extension request with City Council as well as details on next steps.
In mid-March when Synergy 8 announced the celebrities attending their charity golf tournament they also indicated the proceeds would go towards mobile outreach vehicles and the Saskatoon Tribal Council Wellness Centre.
