The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling the 2022 federal budget laid out yesterday (thurs) as another credit card budget by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.

Franco Terrazzano, Federal Director of the CTF says “Freeland is giving taxpayers another credit card budget with no plan to pay the bills on time and chip away at the $1-trillon debt,” adding “Freeland is taking the wait-and-see approach to the government’s credit card bills and hoping the economy can grow faster than its borrowing, but that’s not a good bet with its track record of runaway spending.”

The deficit this year is expected to be $52.8 billion this year. The budget released by the Liberal government doesn’t include a plan to balance the books.

Terrazzano says interest charges on the government’s credit card is costing taxpayers more than $2 billion dollars every month.
