Prince Albert residents appear to be solidly in support of banning single use plastic bags.
City administration say the survey on the topic got over 17-hundred responses, the most ever for a city survey.
Three-quarters of respondents favour a ban beginning April 1st and close to 60-percent feel retail businesses should be given six months to comply.
A city report also says many respondents also recommend banning styrofoam containers.
The report indicates in addition to reducing litter, banning single use plastic bags would mean a slight cost saving at the recycling depot but producing and buying cloth bags would add cost for businesses and consumers.
It also states a tax on single use plastic bags would mean extra work and cost for administration as well as stores to implement.
A bylaw may not be ready for City Council consideration until early 2020.
