The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board is proposing the 2020 average employer premium rate remain at $1.17 per hundred dollars of payroll. This follows 12 consecutive years of decreases. Despite holding steady, the WCB says two-thirds of employers will see an increase in their industry premium rate next year. The board says the economy plays a factor in whether payroll will increase or decrease. They are also reporting a consistent number of serious injuries every year which impacts claim costs. When those costs increase at a faster rate than payroll, it impacts premium rates.
