Usually by April most would like to hope that winter is over and done with, however that doesn’t seem to be the case for northern states and parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba over the next week.

A Colorado low could bring a blast of winter to the southeastern corner of Saskatchewan by the middle of this week.

Brad Vrolijk with Environment Canada says Estevan, Moosomin and Carlyle could all see up to 10 centimetres from the system which is making its way to southern Manitoba.

That all depends on how the system tracks according to Vrolijk.

“That could be a little higher if the system tracks a little bit further west, it could even be down to just a trace if it tracks further east.”

Vrolijk adds the system is also responsible for the sub-zero temperatures expected for the upcoming week with Saskatoon forecasted to see daytime highs of minus 1 to minus 5.

Montana, North Dakota and Manitoba will be impacted the most. Parts of southern Manitoba could see up to 50 to 70 centimetres of the white stuff by time everything is all said and done.

“Certainly if anyone in Saskatchewan has travel plans mid-week into Manitoba, even into areas like Brandon, definitely keep an eye on the weather cause that may not even be possible come mid-week if the more pessimistic outcomes from the system are realized.”

Regina will likely see some flurries from the system, while Saskatoon should escape the spring storm entirely.
