The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation wants the province to reinstate the COVID-19 public health measures in schools.

President Patrick Maze points to the increase of COVID viral load in wastewater in the province.  On Monday the Global Institute for Water Security on the USask campus reported an increase by 742 per cent in Saskatoon, it is up 250 per cent in North Battleford, and there was a 56 per cent in Prince Albert.  This is compared to the measurement taken a week prior to the most recent data.

Maze says Saskatchewan’s health system is over capacity and healthcare workers are stressed. He suggests by ensuring the reintroduction of the basic and minimal health measures, fewer people will require hospitalization and schools will continue to operate safely.
