April showers should bring May flowers but most prairie residents just hope April snow will mean a return to more normal temperatures.

Another weather system is bringing more snow to the prairies.

Parts of Saskatchewan including Saskatoon and Prince Albert are forecasting snow for Tuesday and Wednesday.

That low pressure system however is really going to hammer Edmonton according to The Weather Network where snowfall totals in a day or so are forecast to be similar to what Edmonton would receive for all of April.

In the last two weeks, first southwest Saskatchewan and then southeast Saskatchewan saw snowstorm and blizzard conditions dumping a significant amount of snow on most of the southern region of the province.  While they may not get snow mid-week some parts of southern Saskatchewan may see snow on the weekend.

And consistently trending for all of April are below normal temperatures. In fact for a few days this week the mercury will struggle to get above 0.

Saskatoon won’t see highs in the double digits until Sunday with an expected daytime high at 10 degrees but normal would be around 13 or 14 degrees. And some long range forecasting models show that below normal trend will last into May.
