Thanks to no W-H-L playoffs the last two years, there is a dearth of post-season experience amongst players going into the start of the second season Thursday and Friday.
In the Saskatoon Blades-Moose Jaw Warriors best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final, each team has six players listed on their roster who have seen playoff action…50 total games for the Bridge City Bunch and 44 total games for the Warriors. Those numbers will be smaller due to injuries on both sides going into Game 1 Friday at Moose Jaw. It’s that time of year where the W-H-L won’t post anymore injury updates to its website and information about player hurts will be rare to non-existent from any of the 16 teams. As a result, when it comes to the Blue and Gold-Warriors first round match-up, the only known injury is the season-ending shoulder surgery for Saskatoon defenceman Aidan De La Gorgendiere (pictured). All games in this series will start at 7 o’clock, meaning CJWW’s broadcasts will all begin at 6:30. Game 2 is Saturday in Moose Jaw with Games 3 and 4 next Tuesday and Wednesday at SaskTel Centre.
