Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby was at the James Smith Cree Nation yesterday. The church had said in a statement, ” A significant purpose behind Archbishop Justin’s visit is to recognize and repent of where those relationships have done damage rather than good, particularly with Indigenous peoples.”
Saturday while at James Smith Cree Nation, the Archbishop heard from children, grandchildren and survivors of residential schools. He said, “I am sorry. I am more than sorry than I can say. I am ashamed, I am horrified.”
The Archbishop will appear at an Indigenous gathering in Prince Albert today (sunday).
