SaskPolytech’s Robot Rumble featured 51 teams of 90 students from 22 high schools who battled it out to see whose technical skills would win the day.
Similar to traditional Japanese sumo wrestling matches, two SUMObots face-off against each other in a ring. The goal is simple: try to knock or push your opponent’s robot out of the ring. The SUMObot that stays in the ring the longest wins.
Teams spend months building, programming and testing robots made from the SUMO robot kits which are provided by SaskPolytech. This year two classes of competition were offered for the students who work in teams of two – stock and modified.
