Saskatoon Police say an eight month investigation dubbed Project Greyhound has led to the arrest of a 23 year old man in connection to trafficking of firearms and drugs.
The investigation began in September 2021.
On Wednesday this week, during a traffic stop in the 2500 block of 8th Street East police arrested a suspect and during that arrest they say they found a bag under the driver’s seat that contained a loaded handgun and cash.
Search warrants were subsequently executed at a home in the 400 block of Edmund Park in Saskatoon, and at a home in Marcelin, Saskatchewan. Investigators say they seized eight rifles, four loaded prohibited firearms (converted flare guns), three loaded handguns, and a shot gun.
In addition to the firearms, officers seized thousands of rounds of ammunition, high capacity magazines, silencers, evidence of gun modifications that included sawed gun barrels and stocks, as well as miscellaneous gun parts. Additional articles recovered included crossbows, body armor, a conducted energy weapon, and a small amount of cocaine.
The investigation was led by the Saskatoon Police Service Guns & Gangs Unit and search warrants were executed with the assistance of the RCMP Investigative Support Unit.
