For those who are hoping for a good rain, there is one on the way for many areas of Southern and South Central Saskatchewan. Environment Canada meteorologist, Terri Lang, says a system is coming up from the United States and will travel north and east through to Northern Manitoba. For those with rain in the forecast, it should arrive in the early morning hours on Friday and continue throughout the day.
The original estimate was for Saskatoon and area to get between 15 and 20 millimetres of rain, but that has been revised and now there is just a 40 per cent chance it will rain, because the city is on the outer edge of the system. The Southeast corner of the province should get between 20 and 30 millimetres, 20 in the Southwest and the heaviest rainfall will be from Hudson Bay down through Wynyard and Moose Jaw to the U.S. border, which Lang estimates will get 40 to 50 millimetres of rain.
Lang adds that the closer you are to Manitoba, the windier it will be. In Saskatoon, the wind is expected to be around 30 to 50 km/h. The Southeast has received a fair amount of precipitation recently, with two spring blizzards, which caused phone and power lines to fail.
