The work continues towards making the Humboldt Broncos Tribute Centre and Memorial a reality. It would be in honour of the 2018 Broncos and the bus crash on April 6th of that year, where 16 people lost their lives and 13 were injured.
The City of Humboldt has applied for funding through the Federal and Provincial investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, which could cover up to 70 percent of the $35-million Tribute Centre. City Manager Joe Day says the facility, along with memorializing the 2018 Broncos, would be uplifting for the community. He expects they will have a reply from the application in four months, and the hope from both the City and the Broncos Memorial Committee is to have work beginning on the project in a few months.
The Broncos Tribute Centre will include a new artificial ice surface, a training and fitness facility and multi-purpose rooms. The training facility will also include a therapy and rehabilitation centre. (CKRM)
