Saskatchewan’s official opposition is asking for a public review of emergency wait times and told the story during Question Period on Monday of a Regina woman who spent 5 days in a hallway at Pasqua Hospital waiting for a room. Health critic Vicki Mowat said a tabled committee chart shows that in Regina, emergency department patients wait for nearly 21 hours before getting an inpatient bed, and admitted patients in Saskatoon wait on average for 30 hours.
Health Minister Jim Reiter didn’t commit to a review during Question Period, but answered that wait times are a problem nation wide. He added the the Saskatchewan Health Authority is investigating the situation that took place at Pasqua Hospital. (CKRM)
