Blades and Raiders Both Trade Down in First Round of W-H-L Prospects Draft

The Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders were supposed to pick 13th and 10th overall, respectively, going into Thursday’s first round of the W-H-L Prospects Draft.

But, both Central Saskatchewan teams were involved in deals that switched up the first round draft order. P-A dealt the 10th selection to Seattle for the 15th overall choice, which they used to take centre Luke Moroz from Regina, as well as a third and sixth round pick. The Bridge City Bunch dealt the 13th overall choice to Kamloops for the 19th overall pick, plus a third and sixth rounder. The Blue and Gold then flipped the 19th overall choice to Vancouver for the 21st overall selection and a fourth rounder. The Blades finally made a pick at 21 by taking defenceman Isaac Poll from White City. Blades President and G-M Colin Priestner had this to say about Poll…..

The first Saskatchewan player taken in the draft Thursday was centre Cole Reschny of Macklin at third overall by Victoria while Saskatoon Generals’ centre Lee Shurgot was chosen ninth overall by Prince George.
