City and contractor crews have been sweeping up the streets from the winter debris and as of tonight (Tues), you may expect delays on expressways, including Circle Drive, Monday to Thursday evenings from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. It’s expected the project will be completed by June 2nd.
The City advises drivers to stay back a minimum of 15 metres, which is about 2-and-a-half car lengths, slow to 60 km/h and use extreme caution when passing. Street sweeping vehicles will have a Saskatoon Police Service escort to enforce speeding and other work zone infractions. On and off ramps will be temporarily closed while the sweeping is being done. Police and pilot vehicles will use flashing lights to warn drivers to slow down as they approach the moving work zone.
The km/h charge for speeding in a construction zone is double. For example, if you are going 20 km/h over the speed limit, it will cost you $440, and 40 km/h over would cost $1,008.
