Technology aided in the arrest of two suspects in Saskatoon Tuesday night. The Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a home in the 1200 block of Avenue O South, and were told multiple people entered carrying knives and then fled with property belonging to the victims.
A canine track led police through the neighbourhood, picking up stolen property along the way. Officers obtained video evidence from a nearby camera which offered descriptions of the suspects, and the GPS location of a cell phone stolen from the home led police to the 1400 block of Avenue M South, which is also where the police service dog had been heading. Two males were arrested without incident.
Police say property believed to be stolen from the victims was located and seized. The two males, 15 and 18 years old are facing charges related to break and enter, robbery, and carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence. Police don’t believe the suspects and the victims know each other.
