The “Don’t Let Your Neighbour Fall Through the Cracks” city-wide food drive hosted by the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre is coming to a close at the end of the month.
Deborah Hamp, Director of Operations and Engagement with the Food Bank says every year, they host a City-wide food drive in the month of May as inventory tends to be low heading into the summer and they want to ensure they have a healthy stock to last the warmer months. Infant formula, canned proteins such as beans and tuna, peanut butter, hearty soups and stews, pasta, pasta sauce and canned fruits and vegetables are among the items the Food Bank is looking.
Donations can be made at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre during the week from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and then again from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Hamp says donations can also be made at your local grocery store. Monetary donations can be made online at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre’s website.
Hamp says with the cost of living rising, residents are having to make some tough decisions and sacrifices. She says it’s a community effort to ensure people have the appropriate nutrition they need.
