A group of residents from the Riversdale and King George neighbourhoods has organized a fundraiser to help the non-profit Crocus Co-operative, which works with people who have mental health challenges.
One of the event organizers, Kevin Sorokowskiy (sore ah COW ski), explains that Crocus has daily work, food and social programs.
Through the work program, members can be hired by individuals or businesses to do things like yard work, lawn aeration, window washing and bulk mail sorting.
Sorokowskiy says Crocus Co-op does amazing work but not many people really know what they do.
The committee’s fundraising event is a night with two live bands followed by the bands converging to become backup for live karaoke.
It’s at the Coors Event Centre next Friday night, June 3rd and tickets are available from the Event Centre’s website.
Crocus Co-op is hoping to raise funds for a new truck to transport the members to their work sites with all of the equipment they need.
