“It’s a pre-season game and so I don’t want to read too much into it” said Craig Dickenson as he faced the media following the Roughriders 25-16 loss to Winnipeg. Dickenson added “I don’t think I’ve won a pre-season game in the last three years.” The Riders played a vast number of new faces and now it will be time to make some decisions on their fate. Which Dickenson points out “is not easy because you grow attached to these guys, you like ’em and you’re pulling for them.” But cuts will come down before the team leaves for Vancouver and their last pre-season tilt on Friday night against the Lions.
As for the quarterback situation. Cody Fajardo watched from the sidelines in his street clothes while Mason Fine and Jake Dolegala took most of the snaps at quarterback. Dickenson’s assessment after the game was that Fine seems to be in control of the back-up spot.
At one point the Bombers were leading 18-3 but the Riders made it interesting when Fine and Jester Weah connected on a two-yard TD pass and then Dolegala teamed up with Dieuly Aristilde on a 12 yard strike that made the score 18-16 late in the fourth quarter but a two point convert failed.
