The national COVID Alert App is being decommissioned.
Responding to questions about scrapping it, chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam says not all innovations might work in different populations but she says it was good that they tried another tool in the current era of apps to try and protect the population.
6.9 million people downloaded the app, but only 57 thousand users entered their positive test.
The chief public health officer also provided an update on the Monkeypox situation in Canada.
Dr. Tam says globally, there are 1,285 confirmed cases in 28 countries. In Canada there are 168 cases with 141 of those in Quebec, 21 in Ontario, four in Alberta and two in British Columbia.
