The Saskatchewan Health Authority (S-H-A) expects that the shortage of specialized formula for infants with allergies and certain medical conditions will be temporary.
While noting that Canada is experiencing a shortage of the specialty formula, the S-H-A says there is plenty of regular infant formula available and is asking families to only purchase the specialty formulas if they have a medical reason to do so. By doing that, the health authority is hopeful of helping families whose need the specialized food will have access to it. The S-H-A said parents and guardians should speak to a health-care professional to discuss concerns if their child has allergies or requires special formula.
