BC RCMP have targeted the building blocks of the drug trade to try to make a dent in drug production in that province.
Thousands of litres of solvents and chemicals used to produce synthetic drugs have been seized by B.C. RCMP. Earlier this month RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in Chilliwack locating a cache of chemicals and other signs that the site was in the early stages of construction for a clandestine lab.
Among the chemicals seized was propionyl chloride. RCMP say that amount could make 320 kilograms of pure fentanyl, which is equivalent to 320 one-kilogram bags of sugar. A lethal dose of pure fentanyl is two milligrams which police says is roughly the size of a few grains of sugar.
No arrests were made at the residence and no charges have yet been laid. The investigation is ongoing.
