RCMP are stressing that we all have to work together to keep construction zones safe after an incident Thursday afternoon when a truck pulled out and passed a line of other vehicles as well as a police vehicle.
Fort Qu’appelle RCMP say it happened around 4 p.m. at a construction zone approximately 5 to 10 kilometres west of the Edgeley turnoff on Highway #10.
The police officer who was stopped in the line up of vehicles activated their lights but the maroon truck sped away.
The RCMP investigation has determined that construction zone flag persons had to move for their safety.
RCMP located a suspect vehicle on Highway #1 just west of the White City overpass.
William Cappo of the Fort Qu’appelle District, 54-years-old, was in Regina Provincial Court Friday charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Flight from a Peace Officer, Obstructing a Peace Officer and Possessing a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.
White Butte RCMP Detachment Commander, says the incident occurred in a construction zone and put the safety of construction workers and motorists who were stopped – at risk. Staff Sergeant Jason Sauve says, “We want the people who witnessed this incident to know the individual was located by police and charged.”
