History was made yesterday afternoon as Carla Beck became the first woman elected to lead the Saskatchewan NDP. She said it’s an honour to be the first women to the lead the party.

Beck, who has been the MLA for Regina Lakeview since 2016, beat Saskatoon-based lawyer Kaitlyn Harvey receiving 3,244 votes to Harvey’s 1,492.

Beck added that after some celebration last night, it would be back to work this week.

Beck replaces Ryan Meili as the Offical Leader of the Opposition after he won the position in 2018 but resigned in February to allow the party to rebrand.
